Guests: Jannette Fennell and Bruce Murakami. Janette Fennell used her traumatic experience of being locked in a car trunk at gunpoint to get a Federal Regulation passed for internal trunk release. She then went on to found Kids and Cars dedicat4ed to eliminate the practice of leaving unattended children in cars.
Bruce Murakami teamed up with the drag racing teen, Justin Cabezas, who killed his wife, Cindy, and daughter, Chelsea, to create, Safe Teen Driver, a program designed to make our roads safer. His story was made into the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, Crossroads: A Story of Forgiveness.

Richard Beck, an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University, has conducted over 1000 hours of trauma groups since 9/11 and Hurricanes Katrina, Riga and Wilma. He has also lectured both nationally and internationally on the treatment of trauma. Stephanie Frogge is a professional crime victim services consultant working with programs that assist victims of crime, the bereaved, and addresses issues of social justice. She provides customized training, and program development in all facets of reaction to trauma.

Marianne Dietzel and Linda Bergh lost their teenage daughters, Nina and Kirsten, in a car accident in 1996. Their mutual losses brought them through grief and gave them the desire to be of service to others suffering loss. Linda is the publisher of She Would Draw Flowers\ a book of poetry by Kirsten Bergh. As a master storyteller, Diane Rooks found healing after the death of her husband and son in the stories that she heard and told. On this show Diane reveals how we can use our stories to repair even the most shattered lives. She is the author of Spinning Gold out of Straw: How Stories Heal.

Suzanne Redfern’s daughter Aimee died of lung cancer in 1999 and Susan Gilbert’s daughter Amanda was killed in a van rollover in 1983. There mutual losses brought them together and inspired them to write, “The Grieving Garden: Living with the Death of a Child.”
